We have been learning about pets and
how to care for them. We have enjoyed having some special visitors to
school to help us learn about looking after different animals. We
loved seeing Rohan's guinea pigs and bearded dragon [many thanks to
Mrs Tarr for bringing them to visit us and telling us so much about
them]. Mrs Ward brought in Mo and Merv two tortoises and we looked
after them all day. Take a look at our learning. We now know how to
take care of pets.

Over
the past few weeks we have been finding out about Pontypridd. For our
homework we chose places we would like to visit on Welly Wednesdays’.
So far we have visited the Old Bridge, Historical Centre, the
Fountain, Ynysangharad Park and found the statues of Evan James and
James James in the Park.
I
think our favourite place was the playground in the park. Look at
some of the photographs we have taken of places we visited and the
fun we had in the playground.
Here are some videos of us having fun.

We met an author
We went to the
library to visit a special person. His name is Mark Dorey and he is an author.
We loved reading his book “Can we walk to the moon?” We found out about how the
story came about and he read the book to us. We were also lucky to hear about
another one of his books ”Polly and the Magic Bubbles” it was very exciting and
he kindly gave us some magic bubbles of our own to take home. One day we are
hoping to write our own book just like Mark!

PC Rob
PC
Rob came to visit us. He told us about his job and all the special
clothes he wears. Some of us tried on his handcuffs and they were too
big for us. We also tried on his different police hats. We told him
when we see him in town we will say hello and give him a wave. We
liked being police constables. Look at us in PC Rob’s hats.

Chinese New Year
The
Lower Foundation Phase children came to our Chinese feast. We had to prepare
lots of things just like Chinese people do. We helped to clean,
organise and decorate the hall. We made our own menus of things we
would like to eat, we made Chinese dragons and made music to dance
our dragons to through the playground. Lilly even challenged Mrs Ward to
make a dragon so she had to make a big dragon and got the children to
help her decorate it. We also made special drums and Chinese red
envelopes with chocolate money in them.
We
learnt a lot about how Chinese New Year is celebrated and had a
delicious feast provided for us by The Oriental Buffet. Many many
thanks to Mr and Mrs Zhang for preparing such lovely food and helping
us to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Our trip to the library
This
week the children from Mrs Ward’s class and the children from Mr
Hall’s class found themselves on a school visit to the same place.
Very unusual except that the visit was to the Library a great place
for all ages.
Both
classes were very excited for different reasons .The children in Mrs
Ward’s class were returning books from their last visit and looking
for new books for our topic “Where in the World”. Mr Hall’s
class were on a quest to find books of their own personal choice.
The
best part of the visit was the way the children interacted with each
other. Mr Hall’s children were fantastic reading stories to the
younger children and talking about the books and the younger children
loved listening to the story and spending time with the older
children. Mr Hall’s class were also very patient as we walked back
to school as some of the younger children were tired and needed
encouragement up the hill back to school.
I think
that all staff present were very proud of all of the children and the
care and respect they showed each other. Congratulations to them all.
